Problem

Users often struggle to recall meaningful Bible verses during moments of anger, anxiety, or stress. Instead, they are typically only shown a "verse of the day" picked by the app, missing out on verses that personally resonate with their current struggles.

Solution

The goal of YourVerse is to provide users with a simple Bible app that allows them to easily save and access their favorite verses. Key features include delivering verse reminders via phone widgets, ensuring timely access to meaningful scriptures, and enabling users to reflect on verses during critical moments. YourVerse offers peace and guidance through The Word of God, providing constant, effortless reminders of scripture that resonate with users’ needs throughout the day.

Design Process

The design process was essential for creating an intuitive and meaningful experience in the YourVerse app. By focusing on research, ideation, and testing, I ensured the app would effectively meet user needs and deliver value.

User Research

Before diving into the design process, research was conducted to understand the needs of Bible app users. I reviewed existing apps, user feedback, and app store reviews to gather insights into what features are most important to users.

Key Findings

Quick Verse Access: Users need a simple way to access their favorite verses at all times.Customization Overload: Users want more control over which verses they see without feeling overwhelmed by notifications.

Categorized Search: Users appreciate the ability to do a deep dive and search for verses based on specific topics or needs.

Need for Subtle Reminders: Users prefer gentle, non-intrusive reminders of verses they have saved.

Conclusion:
By understanding user preferences, YourVerse was designed to offer seamless access to meaningful Bible verses, helping users stay connected with the Word of God in a way that’s simple, personalized, and unobtrusive.

Competitive Analysis

This analysis compares YourVerse’s features with leading Bible apps like YouVersion and Bible Gateway. Key features include widget integration, saved verse customization, category-based search, and custom verse reminders. By evaluating these features, YourVerse identifies unique opportunities to offer a personalized and accessible Scripture experience.

User Persona

The user persona section highlights a typical YourVerse user, offering insight into their habits, goals, and frustrations related to spiritual growth. This persona guided design decisions to ensure the app met real user needs.

User Empathy

I empathized with YourVerse users by identifying what they need in moments of stress. Understanding their thoughts and behaviors helped shape a more meaningful and supportive app experience.

User Flow

This user flow represents the journey within the limited scope of the prototype, not the full app. Only functional, clickable paths are included, while inactive navigation elements are shown as dead ends to reflect the current prototype design.

Colors Used

I chose a calming blue palette to create a peaceful, focused atmosphere—supporting a sense of calm that’s especially important when reading the Word of God, helping to ease stress and encourage quiet reflection; the soft off-white background (#F6FBFF) adds to this by maintaining readability while subtly reinforcing the tranquil tone.

Typography

Avenir is used for the app UI to maintain a clean, modern design that enhances legibility and user experience.

EB Garamond is chosen for Bible text to evoke a traditional, book-like feel, providing a soothing and easy-on-the-eyes reading experience.

Conclusion

Designing YourVerse allowed me to explore how calming visuals and intuitive functionality can enhance a user’s spiritual experience. This project strengthened my skills in mobile UX/UI design, font pairing, and color psychology. Moving forward, I plan to conduct more user testing to better understand how real users interact with the design and to refine the experience based on their feedback.
